“Political Porridge: Too Hot, Too Cold, Or Just Plain Empty?”

Recently when asked (via a Facebook posting) …

“As succinctly as you can, and with no partisan chest beating, tell me what you think are the greatest issues facing America this election season?”

I replied …

“Impaired politicians, corporate controlled media, sound bite citizens. Put them all together and you’ve got frightened, hate-filled null and void nation.”

Not sure why I even felt compelled to reply. Maybe I just wanted to feel like I made an effort. You know, like trying to put out a skyscraper fire with a water gun.

I’m really not clear why some people believe one person can undo all this damage anyway. Think about it, the newly appointed has only acquired one term, 2 to 4 years depending on the office, in which to accomplish anything. To get there they’ve curried favors, and probably … exaggerated the number of problems they plan to look into, let alone solve.

So how can we expect one man or woman to roll back 8 years of this, or 4 decades of that?

It’s always been up to the people to work at reform, repair, rejuvenation. And when we vote and then walk away, we’ve basically bought the house by the highway, left the toddler on the lawn, and gone into the kitchen for a beer.

If we don’t neutralize the negatives (hatred, divisiveness, rhetoric, etc.), roll up our sleeves and get to work out there, we’ll have left our children hell on earth. And I suspect many of them won’t do much better than we did.

After all, who are they learning from?

Until you give up, there’s always a chance to improve something
.

He always tried.
